EBSL are delighted to announce that Jamie O’Rourke has agreed to support the growth of Beach Soccer in England by taking up the role of Competition Coordinator.
Having previously played for the national team, been captain and then Head Coach, he brings with him a full understanding of where the sport has been and where it is trying to develop to.
Jamie told EBSL:
‘I am very happy to have the chance to be involved in organising the first official England Beach Soccer Championship. It is something that is long overdue but at last we have the chance to put on a true national event.
Since my international Beach Soccer career ended in 2012 it has been hard to keep involved in the sport I have given ten years of my life to as there is only a handful of regional events.
Now I have an opportunity to play a part in creating a platform for former, current and aspiring internationals to perform at a high level be it either playing or coaching.
I believe it’s important that we find a national champion that truly deserves their place at The Euro Winners Cup by competing against the very best teams and players the country has to offer.
This can only be a positive move for the growth of Beach Soccer in England and I feel it will be of great benefit for the future of the National Team’
Details regarding this year’s National Championships will be released next week.
